   Practice, practice, and more practice! Look at some areas that you feel your writing is weak (i.e. creative writing, press releases, etc.) and learn everything you can in that area. Do a lot of experimenting, talk to people who have the skills you're trying to acquire, and read a lot of examples in the area you're trying to break into. After that, it's just a matter or writing in that area A LOT to develop your own style and comfort level with it.    Reading other writers will help you get exposed to different styles and thus, make you learn what works and doesn't as a writer. Then, keep writing and you should slowly build up your own skills at writing these various styles.

   HubPages is a great place to practice your writing, but there are other free blogs (wordpress.com), that you can practice your writing and make private.  This way you can show your writing samples to a few close friends or mentors first, and when you feel comfortable with your abilities, then you can make them public and focus on monetizing your content.

    This question depends entirely on what kind of writer you want to become.  If you want to become a fiction writer, then you may want to consider a few workshops at a local university. See my "Are you a writer?" hub for further reflection.
